Tips for Writing a Server Job Description on a Resume

Notice that all of these are slightly different, but they would all look similar in a professional resume. The most important thing is to include up to ten years of experience and to make sure that every job is listed the same way.

Write up to five bullet points per job.

Underneath each position, you’re going to include a job description with bullet points addressing what you did in that job. You should include up to five bullet points for each position, ensuring that you use resume action words to do so. Here are some examples of restaurant server job responsibilities to help.

• Took food service orders and drink orders in a fast-paced environment, including multitasking to both take orders and serve food in an efficient manner.
• Addressed customer needs with regards to food preparation, including an eye for condiments and table settings.
• Kept strict time management schedules, ensuring that the entire food service team was able to stay on schedule every night.

You need your bullet points to be concise, packed with information, and to show off skills like your interpersonal skills and your ability to be a team player.

Use keywords from the job ad.

Lastly, while you’re writing your job description, you need to use keywords from the job ad directly. When you’re crafting your resume template, you should look through the job ad and see what the company is asking for in a customer service worker. If you’re able to discover the keywords necessary, you’ll be able to target your resume toward the recruiter more effectively.
